Normally you use simple presentaciones or introductions in situations where no one needs a follow-up. The point of doing them like this is to get to know each other’s names only so you shouldn’t be nervous. As an example, think of the first day of school or a job meeting with new members. Here are the most common ways of introducing yourself and we will use it as a base when we get to the “how to introduce someone in Spanish” section.

Hi! My name is Andrea.
¿Cómo están? Mi nombre es Adrián.
How are you? My name is Adrian
Yo soy Pedro, mucho gusto.
I am Pedro, nice to meet you.
As you can see you can start by saying “hi,” “how are you?” or finishing with “nice to meet you.” Also, these are the three best ways of saying your name. These sentences in Spanish and English have a very similar grammatical structure, so they are easy to remember.
How to Introduce Someone in Spanish
But, how do you introduce someone in Spanish? In the previous section, you found out that the Subject Pronoun yo or “I” only appears in one of the examples, the Reflexive Pronoun me in another, and the Possessive Pronoun mi in the other. When introducing others it is better to always say the subject pronouns. That way it sounds like a proper introduction instead of just a comment about who they are.

Practice how to introduce someone in Spanish before you actually do it. Let’s quickly remember the pronouns and verb conjugations you will use to do this:
Notice how in English there is no gender distinction in “they” for female and male. However, this distinction does exist in Spanish. When you are talking about a group of people where there are women and at least one man present, the pronoun to use is ellos.

Él es Alexander.
He is Alexander, this is Alexander.
Ella es Rosa.
She is Rosa, this is Rosa.
Ellos son Alberto y Ramiro.
They are Alberto y Ramiro. / These are Alberto y Ramiro.
Ellos son Alberto y María.
They are Alberto and Maria. / These are Alberto and Maria.
Ellas son Alejandra y Nadia.
They are Alejandra and Nadia. / These are Alejandra and Nadia.
Nosotros somos Daria y Cristina.
We are Daria and Cristina.
Another way of introducing someone is by saying te presento a, déjame presentarte or nos presentamos:
Te presento a Alexander.
Let me introduce you to Alexander.
Déjame presentarte a Alejandra y Nadia.
Let me introduce you to Alejandra and Nadia.
Nos presentamos, somos Daria y Cristina.
Let us introduce ourselves, we are Daria and Cristina.
In many scenarios, you will need to give more information about the person you are introducing. Like what is the relationship between you and the other subject. Here are some examples of what you can say in business or social environments.
Él es Alexander, es mi hermano.
This is Alexander, he is my brother.
Déjame presentarte a Rosa, la directora del colegio.
Let me introduce you to Rosa, she is the school principal.
Ellos son Alberto y Ramiro, son los dueños del restaurante.
These are Alberto y Ramiro, they are the restaurant owners.
Te presento a Alberto y María, mis socios comerciales.
Let me introduce you to Alberto and Maria, my business partners.
Ellas son Alejandra y Nadia, las que te decía.
These are Alejandra and Nadia, the ones I was telling you about.
Nosotros somos Daria y Cristina, hablamos por teléfono.
We are Daria and Cristina, we talked on the phone.
Formal vs Informal
All of the examples above are perfect for casual, informal, and familiar scenarios. But let’s say you are in front of very important people or that has a higher hierarchic place than you. How to introduce someone in Spanish formally?
In order to learn a formal way to present someone in Spanish, first you need to understand the word usted. Usted is the formal pronoun of tú or “you.” When you use it, you need to conjugate verbs accordingly. Here are some comparisons with verbs in present tense so you can see the difference:
Just as we change the verb when using usted, we change the word te for le whether they are alone or at the end of a word:
Le presento a Alexander.
Let me introduce you to Alexander.
You can add more words to sound even more formal:
Me gustaría presentarle a Rosa.
I would like to introduce you to Rosa.
Para mí es un gusto presentarle a Alejandra y Nadia.
For me it is a pleasure to introduce you to Alejandra and Nadia.
Disculpe, para nosotras sería un gran honor presentarnos con usted, somos Daria y Cristina.
Excuse me, it would be a great honor to introduce ourselves, we are Daria and Cristina.
